Professional Goals
My long-term goal is to become a teacher librarian in a school. I love working in a school, but also love being surrounded by books daily. The idea of being able to combine those two things and help students discover books whether it be for themselves, for a school project, or other reasons would be a satisfying and rewarding part of the job.
Other goals include furthering my knowledge of books and the process involved in getting them into the hands of young readers. Additionally, I would love to learn more about technology and the impact it has on our schools. I would like to use the knowledge I have learned about technology to work alongside other teachers, staff, or students whether it is enhancing classroom experiences, troubleshooting difficulties, teaching new programs, or more.
Technolgy Experience
I have several experiences when it comes to incorporating technology in the school setting. Many of my experiences include using technology to enhance engagement in the classroom with students. Using technology to increase engagement in my classroom included: interactive slides and polls during lectures, competitive classroom games, roleplaying scenarios/games, individual feedback programs, and more.

Diversity Experience
I have lots of experience, especially in the field of education, working with a variety of different students, staff, and support systems from different cultural and economic backgrounds.
One of my experiences is working as a full-time high school teacher in Omaha Public Schools. During my time as a teacher, I worked with many students from different cultural and economic backgrounds. Some students came from supportive families with two parents while other students came from struggling families, sometimes with no parents, or where the students found themselves caring for and raising their younger siblings while the parents worked. In addition, many of the students came from different economic backgrounds. Examples included many of my students qualified for free/reduced lunch or didn't have internet capabilities at home to work on school work. Working with these students and families required empathy, allowing additional time to complete work and one-on-one support sessions.
Other experiences working with a diverse student body include my time as an attendance para in Millard Public Schools. In this role, I worked with families that required students to miss school or class time due to religious holidays or events. I was responsible for maintaining clear communication between teachers, students, and families and documenting reasons for student absences.
